Anonymous play data
From version 1.1.1, The Quiet sends anonymous play events (which puzzle you entered or solved, when you opened the hint sheet, which hint pack you bought, the app version and device type) to PostHog, an analytics service, so we can see where players get stuck. The events are tied to a random id created when the app is installed, never to your name, Apple ID, email or advertising identifier. IP addresses are discarded, so no location is recorded. The data is never used for advertising or for tracking you across apps.
Turning it off
Open Settings (the gear, top-left) and tap “Share anonymous play data” to switch it off. Nothing recorded while it is off is sent, even if you turn it back on later. Deleting the app deletes the id.
Offline play
Apart from those events and the App Store itself, the app makes no network requests. The game works fully offline; events wait on the device until a connection is available.
Game progress and settings
Game progress and settings are saved only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them.
In-app purchases
In-app purchases (hint packs) are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details. Apple’s handling of purchase data is covered by Apple’s privacy policy.
Children
The app collects no personal data from anyone, including children.
Changes
If this ever changes, this page will be updated and the date above revised.
